Beryl isn't so much a single gemstone as it is a family of gemstones. The highest quality Beryl is found in Brazil, but it is also found in Madagascar, Namibia, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe.

In its purest form, Beryl is colorless, but trace impurities are responsible for the wide range of colors. Beryl’s clarity can range from transparent to opaque.

This large and important gemstone group includes:

  • Colorless Beryl, known as Goshenite
  • Emerald
  • Aquamarine (see Aquamarine for properties)
  • Red Beryl, also known as Bixbite, which is very rare

More common gemstones in the Beryl group include:

Golden Beryl (sometimes called Heliodor)

This stone ranges from an intense lemon-lime color to a light, greenish-yellow color.
Golden Beryl is known as “The Stone of the Sun,” and ancient Greeks believed that Golden Beryl contained the actual warmth and energy of the sun.

Wearing Golden Beryl is said to boost drive and determination to succeed, and also to protect its wearer from psychological manipulation by others. It is thought to deter spirits, ghosts and dark forces.

Physically, Golden Beryl may strengthen the immune system and is thought to be useful for treating disorders of the liver, spleen and pancreas. Golden Beryl stimulates both the crown and solar plexus chakras, but it can be used on all chakras.

This pastel-colored stone ranges through peach-pink, soft-pink, violet-pink, and salmon-pink. It is a stone of Divine love, bringing healing, compassion, assurance and promise. Its gentle pink energy attunes to the Heart Chakra, helping to cleanse stress and anxiety, and lifting the burdens of old wounds and hidden traumas

Morganite was named for J. P. Morgan, the American banker interested in magic and mineralogy. It has been adopted as a professional stone of lawyers for ensuring fairness, and is a great stone to take to meetings with bank managers and accountants to receive fair treatment.

Physically, Morganite supports the heart, helping to soothe palpitations. It is thought to clear the lungs, strengthen the nervous system, and relieve stress and stress-related illnesses.

Wear this pastel-colored Beryl bracelet with one of our other pastel colors: Aquamarine, Lavender Amethyst, Rose Quartz, or Jade!

Although one of the more durable gemstones, avoid wearing Beryl during exercising or cleaning. Because of its hardness, Beryl can scratch softer stones, so it is better stored separately.
